Percy Jackson…

A mythical Greek movie, with a lot of green screen.

Percy Jackson, The Sea of Monsters is a movie about a Greek demigod camp called Camp Half Blood. A magical tree produced by a girl, who gave her life for her friends, protects the borders of the camp from the monsters who want to destroy it. When the tree is poisoned and monsters get through the barrier, the camp goes into a frenzy. The camp sends its greatest warrior after the Golden Fleece, a magical fleece that can heal any sickness or injury. Percy Jackson and his friends receive a message from Hermes, the messenger god, that he and his friends are needed on the quest for the fleece, even though they sent their best warrior to get the fleece. After many days facing sea monsters and angry sea gods, Grover, Percy's friend gets captured. Then, Percy Jackson and his friends join up with the warrior the camp sent out earlier. Then they make their way to Polymethus to fight him for the fleece and rescue Grover. After arriving at the island, they face Polymethus and grab Grover during the fight. After some running around, they trap Polymethus in his cave. As soon as they get out of the cave, evil demigods, who want to use the fleece to resurrect the dead titan Kronos, surround them. After the duel between the two teams of demigods, Percy and his team take back the fleece and rush it back to Camp Half Blood. When they arrive they are hailed as heroes, and they heal the magical tree that protects their borders.

After reading the book and watching the first awesome movie, The Lightning Thief, I was ready to watch the sequel, but unfortunately it was a major downer.

I was disappointed with this movie. The first movie, The Lightning Thief, was much better and more realistic. It also stayed closer to the storyline of the book. The Sea of Monsters did not stay close to the book it added scenes that should not have been there. It also cut off a link to the next book/movie. I really would have liked the movie better if it had stayed closer to the book.

The screening of the movie was really bad, because, in my opinion they used the green screen much more than they probably needed. The actors were mediocre at best. The book was 10 times better than the movie. Before watching the movie, I was excited that I could see it but, after watching it, I was a little annoyed that I wasted and hour and a half on it. I definitely would not recommend this to anyone. For fans of the first movie or the book series, this movie was a real let down.
