CD/DVD Picture Frame

Hey Everyone! For this week's Tuesday Treats we are going to make a picture frame out of a CD! Have you ever noticed how pretty the back of a CD looks when the light hits it? That's the effect we are going to bring to this picture frame. How cool is that?! Now don't go grab your mom's favorite Casting Crowns CD. I can see the pleasure on her face as you give her your beautiful new picture frame. Then the horror when you tell her what it's made of. So, I used a blank that we use for burning pictures onto. I'll bet you have all the supplies laying around your house already. I did, which was awesome. I love when that happens. Are you ready? I am. So lets get crafting!

Here's what you'll need;

-Some Cardboard
-A CD or DVD
-Scissors (you may need something stronger like kitchen shears)
-A Utility Knife
-Craft Glue
-A Pencil
Optional:
-A Ruler
-Puffy Paint

Step 1: Cut out two pieces of cardboard 5x5 1/2 inches big.

Step 2: Draw a smaller square on one of the pieces, about an inch by an inch and a half towards the center from the side. Then cut it out using your utility knife.

Step 3: Cut out a strip of cardboard 4 inches long, an inch wide, and fold it an inch down. Then glue it to the back of the other piece of cardboard.

Step 4: Now set your cardboard pieces aside. Grab your CD and cut it in little pizza slices. Then cut off the clear plastic part. (The stuff in the center of a CD.)

Step 5: If you used a DVD you might notice its coming apart. Well DVD's actually have two layers. Just bend the DVD pieces back and forth a bit and pull them apart. Separate the plastic outside (it might look more purple) and the shiny DVD inside.

Step 6: Cut your CD pieces into smaller ones. Then glue them onto the piece of cardboard with the hole in it. Add puffy paint on now if desired. Put it around all the CD pieces on your frame.

Step 7: Glue your two pieces of cardboard together. Glue along the sides and bottom, make sure you DO NOT glue across the top! You won't be able to insert a picture if you do.

Step 8: Find your favorite picture to put inside!

Now you have a beautiful totally one of a kind picture frame that you can give to someone or keep for yourself! If you have any questions or comments let me know in the comment section below. Thanks for crafting with me. - Brooke :)
